La Supercoppa LNP 2023 non si ferma e con nelle orecchie ancora il tifo dei 3.168 spettatori del vittorioso derby contro Udine, i ragazzi di coach Jamion Christian ritrovano Vildera e scendono in campo al PalaTrieste per i quarti di finale: tra loro e le ambite Final Four di Montecatini ci sono gli Shark Trapani dell’ex Fabio Mian, qualificati nonostante la sconfitta rimediata contro Agrigento nell’ultimo turno.

Palla a due tra Candussi e Renzi e si parte, con Trieste che inizia sul fronte offensivo: Ruzzier attacca il ferro e serve all’indietro Candussi, che apre le danze. Marini pareggia subito i conti e Brooks allora gli risponde con la prima tripla di giornata. Muove bene il pallone Trapani, ma Trieste è più lesta nell’arrivare sotto le plance: Reyes segna, subisce fallo e infila il libero aggiuntivo del +6. Trapani trova punti con Renzi dalla media, ma i padroni di casa danno la sensazione di avere ben chiaro il da farsi. Brooks si crea facilmente spazio e continua a colpire, diventando già un problema per coach Parente. Trapani aumenta il ritmo, Trieste incrocia bene le linee di passaggio e prova con veemenza la carta del contropiede, trovando punti da Reyes, ma sbagliando qualche tiro di troppo, pur con piedi a terra. Gli ospiti giocano molto sul perimetro e accorciano le distanze con uno scatenato Notae, che in un amen ne mette 5 e riporta i suoi ad un solo punto di distacco (12-11 a metà tempo). Il gioco dei padroni di casa torna nelle mani di Ruzzier, che offre a Vildera una ghiotta occasione, sfruttata abilmente dal n°14 biancorosso. Ancora Notae a gioco fermo rimette gli Shark a -1, dall’altro lato le trame si infittiscono e producono buone occasioni per Trieste, che mantiene il vantaggio fino al pareggio di Mian, che colpisce dall’arco. Marini pareggia i conti con Ruzzier e il suo libero aggiuntivo a 3 minuti e mezzo dalla sirena fa mettere per la prima volta il naso avanti a Trapani. Il tiro da fuori è un’odissea per i padroni di casa, che non riescono a produrre fatturato. Dall’altra parte Notae si infila abbastanza facilmente nella difesa triestina, che vede ora gli ospiti andare a +3 e poi incrementare ancora con Mian. Reyes proprio non ci sta e dai 6 e 75 suona la carica, quando inizia l’ultimo minuto sono 4 le lunghezze da recuperare. Candussi penetra e dimezza lo svantaggio, ci pensa poi Ferrero imbeccato da Brooks ad infilare la tripla del controsorpasso; l’ultima azione però è di Trapani, che con Mobio trova la tripla del +2 con cui si chiude il primo quarto.
Trapani muove la prima azione offensiva della seconda frazione, Imbrò colpisce da fuori ed è subito +5 per gli ospiti, che ottengono molte soddisfazioni dal tiro pesante. Trieste deve ritrovare ritmo e convinzione, Reyes prova a scuotere i compagni su entrambi i fronti, Trapani però non molla di un centimetro e crea dividendi con una certa continuità. Candussi trova un buon canestro da sotto, gli risponde Mian dall’arco, subito imitato da Brooks: ossigeno per Trieste che blocca il tentativo di fuga degli ospiti. Forray porta a scuola Imbrò e infila un semigancio importantissimo, quest’ultimo si rifà immediatamente andando direttamente al ferro. Dopo 3 minuti, il punteggio è sul 36-39, quando i padroni di casa godono di una palla persa dagli ospiti: tripla di Filloy e pareggio. Partita molto equilibrata, seppur senza grandi emozioni finora. Renzi è il faro dell’attacco trapanese, suo il canestro del nuovo vantaggio esterno, che dopo diversi errori da ambo i lati del parquet si allarga a 5 lunghezze a 4 minuti dal termine con la tripla di Imbrò. Il digiuno biancorosso viene interrotto da Ruzzier e sul 41-44 coach Parente richiama i suoi sul pino, mentre la Curva Nord trascina il tifo del PalaTrieste. Sbaglia Trapani, non sbaglia Campogrande: sua la tripla che impatta nuovamente la partita; dura poco, visto che Rodriguez lo imita nell’azione successiva. Trapani continua ad affidarsi ai tiri da fuori e con Pullazzi spinge il gap a +6. Candussi non ci sta e colpisce da fuori, Trapani ha però l’indubbio merito di approfittare di ogni errore di Trieste: prima Notae, già in doppia cifra, poi Mobio rubano palla e vanno comodi al ferro, per il massimo vantaggio ospite con mezzo minuto ancora sul cronometro. Candussi raggiunge Reyes in doppia cifra e accorcia le distanze dalla linea della carità, l’ultima azione è nelle mani degli ospiti, che dopo il timeout ci provano con Imbrò, stoppato da Reyes, andando al riposo lungo davanti di 5 lunghezze sul 49-54.
Riprende la gara con il pallone nelle mani di Reyes, azione prolungata e primi due punti del terzo quarto. Smorfia di dolore sul volto di Candussi, costretto ad uscire ed a far posto a Vildera. La versione difensiva dei padroni di casa ha qualche difficoltà contro i lunghi trapanesi, quella offensiva gira bene quando il pallone passa da Ruzzier. Botta e risposta Reyes-Notae, poi su quest’ultimo frana Ruzzier e il pallone passa agli ospiti che non ne approfittano: Vildera non si fa pregare e rosicchia altri due punti a Trapani. Notae è inarrestabile e viene cercato continuamente dai suoi, risultando certamente il più lucido offensivamente. Dopo 4 minuti di gioco Trieste deve recuperare 7 lunghezze ad una Trapani che si sta dimostrando compatta e reattiva. Il rientro di Candussi è un’ottima notizia, oltre che un’iniezione di fiducia per i compagni. Ferrero viene fermato fallosamente da Mobio su un tiro da fuori: 2/3 dalla lunetta e punteggio sul 57-63 a metà tempo. Ci si mette anche Renzi a segnare da fuori, categoria in cui stasera i biancorossi non trovano soddisfazione. Pallone sanguinoso sprecato da Brooks sotto le plance, diverso destino invece quello del fade-away con cui Notae porta gli ospiti al vantaggio in doppia cifra: 57-68 dopo 6’18”. Coach Christian prova a cambiare qualcosa fermando il cronometro, Brooks risponde “presente” e va comodo al tabellone. Rodriguez e Mobio da una parte, Brooks e Reyes dall’altra danno spettacolo e provano ad aumentare il ritmo, mentre Candussi riprende ad arpionare palloni nel pitturato. Arrivano altri punti a gioco fermo da Brooks, Trieste approfitta di un fallo in attacco degli ospiti per tornare in attacco, ma senza colpire. Inizia l’ultimo minuto ed è ancora Reyes a segnare in appoggio al tabellone, mentre Trapani va all’ultimo tiro senza successo. Quarto che va in archivio sul 68-72.
Inizia l’ultimo quarto di una partita fin qui molto equilibrata, con prima azione di Trieste e tripla vincente di Brooks per il -1. Trapani non demorde e mette ancora un tiro pesante, stavolta con Rodriguez. 2 di Reyes a gioco fermo, altra tripla di Notae e canestro di Brooks in appoggio, non c’è soluzione di continuità. Gli ospiti non danno alcun segno di cedimento e dimostrano di tenere bene il campo, coach Christian prova un quintetto tutto italiano per recuperare. Notae sbaglia e già questa è una notizia, Trieste però non ne approfitta ed anzi è costretta a subire un altro canestro in entrata da Rodriguez. Quest’ultimo commette fallo su Ferrero durante un recupero in attacco e Trapani esaurisce il bonus dopo 3 minuti e mezzo. Festival di palle perse sul parquet, l’ultimo da Candussi con conseguente canestro di Mobio e vantaggio ospite che torna a +7. Pullazzi manda Candussi in lunetta a metà tempo: 2/2 e punteggio 76-81. Trieste prosegue nelle penetrazioni, cercando e trovando gite in lunetta: 1/2 Deangeli e -4. Tornano avanti gli ospiti, con Mobio che non perdona. L’attacco triestino non muove il punteggio e la tripla di Imbrò a poco più di tre minuti e mezzo appare alquanto mortifera per le ambizioni biancorosse; Ruzzier non ci sta e arriva con successo fino al ferro, con timeout avversario sul 79-86. Al rientro Mian colpisce subito dai 6 e 75, Filloy commette poi fallo in attacco e sul cambio di fronte Pullazzi va in lunetta per fallo di Campogrande, portando con un 2/2 i suoi avanti di 12 sul 79-91 a 2’52” dal termine. The 2023 LNP Supercup keeps going, still echoing the cheers of the 3,168 spectators from the victorious derby against Udine, as coach Jamion Christian’s team faces Vildera again and takes the court at PalaTrieste for the quarter-finals. The coveted Final Four in Montecatini is just a step away. The opponent is the Shark Trapani, led by former player Fabio Mian, who qualified despite their loss to Agrigento in the last round.
