Justin Reyes, l’ultimo giocatore approdato nel roster di coach Jamion Christian, è impegnato in queste settimane nel tour di amichevoli con la nazionale di Porto Rico. Sceso in campo nel quintetto base anche nell’ultima partita con i colori della selezione caraibica, ha fatto segnare 20 minuti sul parquet conditi da 6 punti, nella sconfitta contro la Serbia di ieri sera. Dai Balcani si sposterà poi a Taiwan per affrontare infine i prossimi FIBA World Cup nelle Filippine a partire dal 26 agosto.
Queste le sue prime parole da giocatore biancorosso:
“Non vedo l’ora di arrivare a Trieste, di abbracciare la sua gente, la sua cultura e respirare la passione di pallacanestro di cui tutti parlano. Ne ho sempre sentito parlare e sono davvero entusiasta di poterne fare parte in questa stagione.
Devo molto di questa opportunità a Mike Arcieri, che con me è sempre stato una persona eccellente. Durante quest’estate si è sempre premurato che io facessi tutto quello che era necessario affinché potessi stare bene fisicamente, chiedendomi spesso aggiornamenti. Sono molto contento di poter arrivare in un ambiente in cui sono certo che si darà la possibilità a chiunque di poter crescere nel migliore dei modi, perché questa è la sua filosofia.
In più quando ho saputo che Giancarlo (Ferrero) sarebbe venuto a Trieste ero già certo che sarebbe stata una stagione speciale. Lui è un ragazzo davvero speciale, un vero leader. E’ stato il mio capitano a Varese e sono certo che con lui saremo organizzati e preparati per tutte le sfide che ci si prospetteranno davanti.
Sono pronto a tutto, a mettere tutta la mia energia in campo, senza mai risparmiarmi. Nelle passate stagioni ho giocato principalmente da 4 in campo, ma mi trovo molto bene a coprire anche lo spot da 3. A livello difensivo sono abituato a coprire tutte le posizioni, arrivando se necessario a impensierire anche i 5 avversari.
Quello che vorrei dire ai tifosi di Trieste è che sono pronto a iniziare questa nuova avventura. Non vedo l’ora di farvi divertire, di gioire con voi. Sono un giocatore che ha sempre fame di crescere, di apprendere ed è per questo che ascolto tutti i consigli che arrivano dallo staff e dai miei compagni. Sarà un’annata bellissima, viviamola insieme!”

We’re excited to share an update on our latest team member, Justin Reyes, who recently joined Coach Jamion Christian’s roster. Currently, Justin is actively participating in a series of friendly matches with the Puerto Rican national basketball team. He took the court as part of the starting lineup in the team’s most recent game, representing the Caribbean selection. During this match, he contributed 6 points over 20 minutes of play, despite the team’s loss against Serbia last night. Following this Balkan tour, he’ll be heading to Taiwan and eventually making his way to the upcoming FIBA World Cup in the Philippines, which kicks off on August 26th.
Here are Justin’s initial thoughts as a member of our team:
“I’m really looking forward to coming to Trieste, embracing its people, culture, and immersing myself in the basketball passion everyone talks about. I’ve heard so much about it and I’m genuinely excited to be a part of it this season.
I owe a lot of this opportunity to Mike Arcieri, who has consistently been an outstanding individual in my corner. Throughout this summer, he made sure I did everything necessary to be in the best physical shape, frequently checking in on me. I’m thrilled to be stepping into an environment where I’m confident everyone will have the chance to grow in the best possible way because that’s the philosophy here.
Moreover, when I heard that Giancarlo (Ferrero) was coming to Trieste, I was already certain it would be a particular season. He’s truly an exceptional guy, a real leader. He was my captain in Varese, and I’m confident that with him, we’ll be organized and prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead.
I’m ready for anything, ready to pour all my energy onto the court, without holding back. In past seasons, I primarily played as a forward on the court, but I’m comfortable covering the small forward spot as well. Defensively, I’m used to guarding all positions, even going up against opposing centers if needed.
What I want to say to the fans of Trieste is that I’m ready to embark on this new adventure. I can’t wait to entertain you, to celebrate with you. I’m a player who’s always hungry to grow, to learn, which is why I listen to all the advice coming from the staff and my teammates. It’s going to be a fantastic season, and we’ll experience it together!”
