Con Ariel Filloy arriva a Trieste un giocatore di grandissima esperienza cestistica sui migliori parquet italiani, un giocatore capace di fare la differenza fino all’ultimo secondo.
Ecco cosa ci ha raccontato nella sua prima intervista da biancorosso:
“Sono contentissimo di tornare a provare le sensazioni che mi ha dato Trieste quando sono stato qui, ormai più di dieci anni fa. E’ una città splendida, non solo esteticamente, ma anche la gente qui ha una marcia in più. In questi anni ho mantenuto i contatti con Nicola (team manager ndr) con cui mi sento regolarmente, ma in generale ho seguito gli sviluppi della Pallacanestro Trieste: ho visto crescere la sua società, il suo pubblico e tutto l’ambiente del basket. Andare lontano da casa (io adesso vivo a Pistoia) non è facile soprattutto dal momento che sto per diventare papà di un bimbo, ma Trieste riesce a darmi la tranquillità che cerco, sotto tutti i punti di vista.
Quando ho saputo dell’interesse della Pallacanestro Trieste nei miei confronti mi sono subito interfacciato con Mike Arcieri, che è stato davvero molto convincente. Ho avuto modo di parlare molto anche con la nuova proprietà, che non nasconde la volontà di voler crescere tanto e devo ammettere che l’idea di poter far parte di questo progetto, per raggiungere risultati importanti, ha influito in modo significativo nella mia scelta.
Sono davvero contento della squadra che si sta formando, ormai manca poco per completare il roster. Conosco quasi tutti i ragazzi: con Gianca (Ferrero ndr) ci siamo affrontati su tutti i campi d’Italia e per la prima volta ci ritroviamo a vestire la stessa maglia, sarà un piacere! Ho sempre condiviso molto con lui, c’è sempre stato un bel rapporto. Con Campo (Luca Campogrande ndr) invece ci conosciamo proprio bene dai tempi di Avellino, dove vivevamo praticamente nella stessa casa, condividevamo il cortile. Anche se è di qualche anno più giovane di me abbiamo davvero un bel rapporto.
Ho sentito il coach qualche giorno fa per presentarci e parlare un po’. Mi ha fatto una grande impressione, soprattutto per l’energia e la carica che dimostra nell’affrontare questa avventura. E’ eccitato da questa opportunità e dalla missione che gli è stata affidata. Sono sicuro che saprà da subito immergersi in questa nuova realtà, ha una profondissima conoscenza del basket e al contempo molta voglia di imparare. Tutta la squadra lo aiuterà, come lui aiuterà noi, facendoci vedere nuove cose, un modo di giocare diverso rispetto a quello che siamo abituati a vedere. Introdurrà sicuramente la sua filosofia di gioco, di come gestire la settimana, gli allenamenti. Sono pronto a mettermi in gioco.
Torno a Trieste con un grande bagaglio di esperienze e una lunga carriera alle spalle, con tutto quello che ho imparato negli anni. Non ci nascondiamo, il nostro obiettivo è vincere. Per fare questo sarà necessaria la giusta tranquillità, per affrontare sia i momenti positivi che quelli più complessi. Manco da qualche anno dalla A2 ma quello che vedo è che si preannuncia un campionato davvero duro, con più di una squadra che si è posta il nostro stesso obiettivo. Non dovremo mai perdere la calma e credo che la mia esperienza in questo possa aiutare.
Il palazzetto, la gente di questa città sarà fondamentale, come lo è sempre stata. E’ un insieme di cose che portano a fare grandi stagioni. Ovviamente non solo i giocatori, deve essere come un’onda, insieme verso l’obiettivo. Le energie che può dare il PalaTrieste sono essenziali per il nostro percorso. Ho giocato davvero molte volte qui e da avversario spesso non mi è andata bene, adesso vestendo questa maglia voglio fare mia questa carica.”

Trieste welcomes Ariel Filloy, a highly experienced basketball player on the finest Italian courts, capable of making a difference until the very last second.
Here’s what he told us in his first interview as a Biancorosso:
“I am thrilled to return and relive the sensations that Trieste gave me when I was here over a decade ago. It’s a splendid city, not just aesthetically, but the people here have an extra spark. Throughout these years, I’ve kept in touch with Nicola (team manager note) regularly, and in general, I’ve followed the developments of Pallacanestro Trieste. I’ve seen their organization grow, the support from their fans, and the entire basketball environment. Being away from home (I currently live in Pistoia) isn’t easy, especially as I’m about to become a father, but Trieste provides the tranquility I seek in every aspect.
When I learned about Pallacanestro Trieste’s interest in me, I immediately got in touch with Mike Arcieri, who was very persuasive. I also had the chance to speak extensively with the new owners, who are not hiding their ambition to grow significantly. I must admit that the idea of being part of this project and achieving significant results significantly influenced my decision.
I’m genuinely excited about the team taking shape; we’re almost done completing the roster. I know almost all the guys. With Gianca (Ferrero note), we’ve faced each other on courts across Italy, and now, for the first time, we’ll be wearing the same jersey, which will be a pleasure! We’ve always had a great rapport. As for Campo (Luca Campogrande note), we go way back to our days in Avellino, where we practically lived in the same house, sharing the courtyard. Despite him being a few years younger, we have a strong bond.
I spoke with the coach the other day to introduce ourselves and chat a bit. He left a great impression on me, especially with the energy and enthusiasm he shows for this adventure. He’s excited about this opportunity and the mission entrusted to him. I’m sure he’ll immediately immerse himself in this new reality; he has a deep knowledge of basketball and a strong desire to learn. The entire team will support him, and he will help us by introducing new aspects, a different style of play from what we’re used to seeing. He will undoubtedly introduce his philosophy of the game and how to manage the week and the training sessions. I’m ready to step up to the challenge.
Returning to Trieste, I bring a wealth of experiences and a long career behind me, with all that I’ve learned over the years. We’re not hiding it; our goal is to win. To achieve this, we’ll need the right tranquility to handle both positive and challenging moments. It’s been a few years since I’ve been in A2, but I see that the upcoming championship is shaping up to be tough, with several teams aiming for the same objective. We must keep our composure, and I believe my experience will be helpful in that regard.
The arena and the people of this city will be fundamental, as they’ve always been. It’s a combination of factors that leads to great seasons. It’s not just the players; it’s like a wave, moving together toward the goal. The energy that PalaTrieste can provide is essential for our journey. I’ve played here many times before as an opponent, and it hasn’t always gone well for me, but now, wearing this jersey, I want to embrace that passion and make it my own.”
