“Dobbiamo affermare la nostra superiorità nel nostro stile di gioco, e non l’abbiamo fatto nelle ultime due settimane. Il nostro stile di gioco è basato sulla fisicità del basket. Siamo una delle squadre migliori nel rimbalzo nella A2, e dobbiamo affermare la nostra superiorità in questo. I think we learned a ton of stuff about ourselves, and we’re then able to go into practice and start working on it immediately. We’ve had a great week of practice. I love the group of guys we work with, and we’re excited to get back on the floor.”
Verona is like us one of the two teams relegated last year. Does this match have a special flavor?
“I think this is coming off of how we played last Sunday. Any game would have a special flavor, but especially this one just because of how good their team is. You know, guys that gave devote, who are outstanding scorers, and they just have a great roster of players who are hungry to prove themselves and have good experience within this league. It’s going to be a great battle no matter what happens for us on Sunday and what happens on Sunday. It’s going to be a great battle no matter what because they’re fighting to establish themselves in this league as well.”
What do you think are Verona’s most dangerous weapons?
“It would be great to have a full roster of guys back and ready to perform and have our guys healthy. Our offense, for the last two weeks, has not been up to the level it was early in the year, so I’m excited about watching that continue to grow and improve. I don’t think that’s how good we can play. We can play much better on that side of the ball. Just overall working with our group, watching us be able to put this style together on both sides of the ball is another great opportunity to do that against a very good team.”
What do you think will be the keys to the match? What will Trieste have to do to win the two points?
“We’ve got to establish our dominance in our way of life, and we have not done that in the last couple of weeks. Our way of life is a physical brand of basketball. We’re one of the best rebounding teams in A2, and we’ve got to establish our dominance on the glass. We’ve got to push the tempo to the pace that we’re comfortable with, and opponents are not. Then, we’ve got to play really connected basketball on both sides of the ball. Again, it’s a great opportunity to do that because we just haven’t done that in the last two opportunities. So, it’s a great opportunity to get ourselves back on track, refocus ourselves, and get back to the fundamentals that make us a really good team. Playing connected basketball certainly doesn’t.”
