Eli Brooks, classe 1998, originario della South Carolina, è un playmaker che però con il tempo si è evoluto in una “combo guard“.
Brooks frequenta la Spring Grove Area High School di Spring Grove in Pennsylvania, dove viene allenato dal padre. Al terzo anno fa registrare una media di 24,7 punti a partita, 7,6 rimbalzi e quasi 4 palle recuperate, trascinando gli Spring Grove alla loro prima partecipazione al torneo statale nella storia della scuola. Born in 1998 and hailing from South Carolina, Eli Brooks started his basketball journey as a playmaker but has evolved into a versatile “combo guard“.
Brooks attended Spring Grove Area High School in Pennsylvania, where he was coached by his father. In his junior year, he showcased impressive stats, averaging 24.7 points per game, 7.6 rebounds, and almost 4 steals, leading Spring Grove to their first-ever state tournament appearance. His outstanding senior year performance, with an average of nearly 30 points per game, earned him a spot in the Class 5-A First Team All-State and made him a finalist for the Pennsylvania Mr. Basketball award.
Subsequently, Eli secured a place at the University of Michigan, where he would go on to break the record for the most games played in Wolverines’ history while also serving as the team’s captain. With consistent improvements over the years, he reached the NCAA East Region final in his fourth college year, narrowly falling to the UCLA team but still managing an impressive average of almost 10 points and over 3 assists per game. In his final year at college, his numbers increased to 12.8 points and 4 rebounds per game, earning him an honorable mention in the All-Big Ten at the Big Ten Conference in 2022.
In June of the same year, he signed a “two-way deal” with the Indiana Pacers, leading him to play for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the NBA franchise’s G-League affiliate, starting from October. During this season, he showcased remarkable stats with an average of 7 points, 4 assists, and nearly 4 rebounds per game.
