Trieste, 15 giugno 2023 – Michael Arcieri è il nuovo General Manager della Pallacanestro Trieste.
“Il primo passo verso la rinascita della Pallacanestro Trieste è compiuto – ha dichiarato il Presidente Richard De Meo – e ciò è avvenuto anche grazie alla collaborazione di Mario Ghiacci, che ha avuto un ruolo importante in questa trattativa”.
Per la Pallacanestro Trieste, il processo di scelta del nuovo GM è iniziato formalmente lo scorso aprile, e ha previsto un’accurata valutazione di candidati provenienti da Europa e Stati Uniti, condotta dal team di CSG al completo.
Durante questo periodo, i requisiti del profilo richiesto si sono modificati a causa della retrocessione in A2, ma con massimo impegno si è lavorato per trovare, a quel punto, il candidato che potesse soddisfare tutti gli obiettivi, sia quelli a breve termine – la promozione in Serie A – che quelli di lungo periodo relativi il futuro del Club.
“La comprovata competenza di Michael Arcieri nella pallacanestro italiana si combina con la sua esperienza, il suo curriculum in NBA e con la volontà di costruire e realizzare una nuova visione per la Pallacanestro Trieste. La profonda conoscenza tecnica del basket di Mike è completata dalle sue competenze di leadership strategica e di business, che lo rendono il candidato ideale per questa importante fase della società e della squadra”, ha concluso il Presidente De Meo.
Michael Arcieri è nato a New York il 27 ottobre 1964 da padre italo-americano e madre italiana. Arcieri ha alle spalle una lunga militanza in diverse franchigie NBA: dopo essere entrato a far parte dello staff dei New Jersey Nets, dove tra il 1991 e il 1993 ha ricoperto il ruolo di scout, Mike fa esperienza a Dallas, New York, Orlando per poi tornare ai Knicks, dove ha avuto un ruolo da dirigente fino al 2021, quando ha firmato con la Pallacanestro Varese per ricoprire il ruolo di General Manager.
Arcieri arriva a Trieste portando anche in dote l’oscar LBA come miglior dirigente della Serie A per la stagione in corso.

“The first step toward the rebirth of Pallacanestro Trieste is accomplished” said President Richard De Meo, “and this has happened also thanks to the collaboration of Mario Ghiacci, who played an important role in this negotiation”.
The process formally began in April and included a thorough assessment of candidates from Europe and the US, carried out by the full CSG team. During this time the requirements of the role evolved due to our relegation from A1, but we were committed to finding a candidate that could satisfy short term objectives – promotion from A2 – while also being able to build a new future for the Club.
“Michael Arcieri’s proven competence in Italian basketball combines with NBA pedigree, along with a hunger to build and execute a new vision for PC Trieste. Mike’s deep technical understanding of the game of basketball is complemented by strategic and business leadership, making him the standout candidate for this exciting phase in Trieste” said President De Meo.
Michael Arcieri was born in New York on 27 October 1964. Arcieri has behind him a long militancy in various NBA franchises: after joining the staff of the New Jersey Nets, where he served as a scout from 1991 to 1993, Mike gained experience in Dallas, New York, Orlando and then returned to the Knicks until 2021, when he signed with Varese Basketball to serve as General Manager.
Arcieri arrives in Trieste also bringing with him the LBA Award as best General Manager of the Serie A for the current season.
